The Lover In Me/Whatever It Takes

Not too long ago, I expressed my desire to get these two CD's. of course, both were out of print for a while. When to Amazon.com, and found some used versions of them for lesser prices. I am so glad I found them.

The Lover In Me was from the late '80's. Sheena Easton had a lot of producers, mainly LA Reid and Babyface. Prince, Angela Winbush and Jellybean did production on this CD as well. So many great songs to listen to. I'll post a song list later.

Whatever It Takes was also late '80. This CD was very R&B/hip-hop influenced. Jesse Johnson did the most of the production (I gotta get his old CD's too). Its a stylish cd, and I missed hearing the title track, and Every Time I try To Say Goodbye. Again, i will post a song list later.

I am happy to share some of my personal joy. Disdain is so easy to write. Sometimes all i gotta do is go outside for that.

Green Lantern #9

I read Green Lantern this week-end. I love the character.

Green Lantern, my favorite super hero, joins forces with Batman this month. Together they fight a new Tattoo Man.

Tattoo Man is a totally crazed, freaky assasin. This not the original Tattoo Man that appeared years ago. This new Tattoo Man is African-American, and very derranged. Killing is mearly the beginning of what he does to victims. The relationship between Batman and Green Lantern is interesting, and is the main focus of the story. The two have an antagonistic relationship that comes to head at the end of the story with interesting results. There is a humorous spot in there as well.

Something I should note. Sometimes, when I read some Bat Man comics, the bat comes off as a jerk. He was very human in this issue. The man has his quirks and abruptness, but he wasn't a total asshole that he can be from time to time. I love that. Writer Geoff Johns has a respectable handle of the character.

A note goes to the part about Green Lantern politics. The conversation between Hal Jordan has on Oa is deeper than I thought.

I love the cover. Its very dark and moody. I like the storm in the background. I thnk its symbollic of the issues the pair have with each other. Good story. The interior art is awesome!!! I love the details of tattoos. The aliens look alien (not that they haven't before).

The isssue is written by Geoff Johns, and art by Ethan Van Sciver. The cover is by Simone Bianchi.

Painting

I did this painting a while back. Ran it through Photoshop. Enjoy. It's a copy of a drawing by Michangelo. It currently hangs on my wall. I need to gather more of my art so I can hang and frame more.

It's Been A Week

It's been a wild week. I am so busy every day.

I overheard some interesting conversations. last week-end this woman propositioned the Verison Wireless salesman in Circuit City. I am talking nasty, upfront "you will be in my bed tonight" type of deal. I was like whoa. That's some deep shit! Lady's bold as hell.

Speaking of Verizon Wirelss, I just paid my bill, and then my Father dropped his phone, and it doesn't work. Now I have to replace his phone. he is so paying for this new model. LOL He can't buy the phone and activate it since my name is on the account.

Mmmmm...Cheesecake!

Desert is strawberry swirl cheesecake. I didn't make it, it was store bought, but I can't disagree with the results...

Feels nice to produce my own dinner than to buy out. That slice would have no doubt cost me two dollars. Three slices could buy me a whole cake. LOL Remember those old word problems in math classes (how much more slices would Stacy have if he bought the whole cake)?

I want fried chicken next. It's never as good as Mom's. Its the next best thing though.

Gumbo Report

I got all the ingredients, and finally got it done. Yes!!!! Bought a rice cooker, since I scorched my last pot on the stove. Talk about embarrassing. I so miss a gas stove.

I think I put everything in there but beef. ROFL It tastes sooo good.

***UPDATE***

I am so full right now. LOL

That was my best cooked meal yet!!!!!! My family would be happy (and stuffed)!!!!

Congrats To My Friend Jackie

My good friend Jackie got engaged. I am very happy for her. A promotion and an engagement. She is so cool. I'm just trying to keep up. I may see a promotion when I finally get a job in my field of graphic design. LOL

The Rub Rabbits

What a fun looking game for the Nintendo DS. its a dating simulation game. Its supposed to have a lot of mini games, and is getting great reviews. What makes this game so different seems to be the fact that it is a game sim, and the style. Its very colorful, stylish, and fun, fun, fun.

For the record, I love fun games more than any other type of game. I play adventure, and rpg's (I am so a geek-LOL), but games like this catch my eye. Sim games are great.

Overtime

Did four hours at work today. What happened was that someone resigned (gave two weeks notice and all). The admin forgot her schedule, and was missing someone for the whole day. I subbed in for like four hours. It felt good to dip in then out after four hours. I did do work. I faxed all the necessary papers, emailed some officials proper, and checked out books as needed. I could not do a full eight hours because I had a project I needed to work on.

I noticed a phantom cleaned my desk. Was it too junky? More or less unorganized. I am sure it was harassing someone. LOL

Oh, worked on my project. Its nearly done. Will add the icing on tomorrow. Also wrote out some essays for my class. Will respond to those tomorrow. I wanted it to have some marinating time, and be in my head. Had too much Starbucks today. I am wide awake. I got another hour and a half in m awake.

My Artwork

I did this a while ago. Because I took the pix with my sorry poor ass resolution camera phone, I Photoshopped it.

When I first started in college, people thought I was wasting my time with in art classes. I never had faith in my work. In fact, the best compliment my professor paid me when over my head. He said that my style didn't fit any category of art. I was different from all the other students who came through the program. It took me a while to figure out I had a unique voice.

Yeah I need to get back into the artwork.

Supervisor Adventures (Not Bad At All)

I'm a supervisor, which means I am responisble for other people. When something happens, I end up being responsible for it. I need to scheldue a meeting for my workers so they can get out any issues they may or may not have.

Noticed some people will not turn in timesheets proper. Will send an email out about that. Its just wrong!!!!! If they don't submit them, I can't approve them. payroll doesn't accetp them till next pay period. You gotta wait two more weeks before you get paid again. That's not good.

Have readings and project to complet before Sunday at midnight. I am gonna be so busy. Will start that in the evening.

Anybody remember the CD's "The Lover In Me" by Sheena Easton, and "Whatever It Takes" By Cheryl Lynn? I've been looking for those CD's for some time now. I've started with the used CD section in music stores. I saw a copy of both on Amazon.com. A friend of mine suggested Half.com, because she shops there all the time.

Thinking Aloud

You know, last month was all about job drama. I'm thinking that needs changing. Its all about my college career, which has been bumped to the side a lot. Its time to place the focus back where it belongs.

My mom may visit tomorrow. So little time to fix the place up. LOL Betta get it done.

Was in a purple mood today. Lots of Prince music today. I felt good about that. My iPod crashed. It stopped playing in the middel of a Cree Summer song.

I may need to update the software. I have tomorrow to work on that.

Playing "Signs" by Beyonce. That's my summer song. Brings back some late night memories driving home from work.

Josie And The Pussycats

Remember this cartoon? It was based on the Archie Comic book with the same name. I didn't know this, but character Valerie Brown if the first African-American animated character to appear on a Saturday morning line up. Valerie was the smart member of the group. She had a technical savy and the brains to figure out many of the solutions to the 'Cat's adventures.

When Hanna-Barbera was going to animate this series, they were going to change Valerie to a caucasion woman. Music producer Danny Janssen stuck to his guns to keep the character African-American. I give him mad props for that.

    Tax Time

Ugh! I'm feeling sick already. Time to grab the W-2's and start weeping as I plug the info in, and see what I put into the sytem of taxes stay right where it was before (outta my hands).

Where does that money go? Who gets it? Who spends it? On what? Why the hell does someone who doesn't make that much money get taxed so hard? This is a nasty, vicious cycle. I know I have to give, and do, but sometimes I feel like there is a LOT of taking. Do people think I am made of money? My appartment still needs furnishing. I want to do this without the use of credit!!!

I had to get that off my chest. I'm gonna get me job that pays me enough money that my taxes won't eat me alive. A LEGAL job.

    Classwork and Projects

No sooner did I become happy for the weekend did my work need to be compleded. For the most part, it was two small essays and using some of Adobe Illustrator's tools. The reading for the essays weren't hard, but time consuming. I wrote out the questions before I read, and took many notes. In fact I was afreaid of overwriting (first essay was over 200 words, I only needed 100). Neddeless to say some trimming was applied.

I am very scared of my Illustrator project. Why? Total lack of confidence. Like if I hadn't done what I did to submit the portfolio, I would not be where I am today. In other words, I can do the work. I need to encourage myself more often.

    The Way Things Are

I am doing some writing, and its back to homework in a moment or two. I tend to write in spurts. I more than likeley need to drink more water. it clears my mind more. Oops. Forgot a soda in the freezer. Gotta rescue my soday before it pops. Get it? LOL I crack me up.

Now that changes are made about the job that turned into a much ado about nothing (hope that quote doesn't bite me in the ass like it did Oprah), can things go like smooth?

    Sense of Humor Test

Your style's goofy, innocent and feel-good. Perfect for parties and for the dads who chaperone them. You can actually get away with corny jokes, and I bet your sense of humor is a guilty pleasure for your friends. People of your type are often the most approachable and popular people in their circle. Your simple & silly good-naturedness is immediately recognizable, and it sets you apart in this sarcastic world.

    Phone Home Baby

Called my Mom today. She was resting. I tell her all the time to enjoy a day off. LOL. She stays so busy. It's good to hear that she's not so busy.

Sometimes I miss Charleston, SC. Their theaters are better. The regal here doesn't show half as much movies. its always the little things you miss.

    Unresolved

The meeting left things more unresolved than resloved. I brought up all the points I wanted to make. My sup gave barely passible answers. I have a strong feeling I will be back at square one. I know one thing, I am NOT going to be rushing to open boxes that don't have my name on them. Other people are going to have to get off their buts and work that shit out before I get to work.

Have to make changes with my student workers. I don't know if that will sit well with them, but a lot of complaints have been lodged against students behind the desk. That sucks so bad. It does mean workers will have to a lot more work.

I can live with that. Time management is not my greatest skill, but I do well under pressure.

    Clash of the Titans

    Ha,

Today is meeting day. I am about to get ready for work. I am hoping for some clear thoughts and answeres. I have always been a dreamer. LOL Its me walking in the day of doom. ROFL

We will see how competant the head of the Hydra is. Of course there are multiple heads, and it may take Hercules to resove things. Perosnaly I don't have the faith I need to have to know things will be flawlessly positive, but I've prepared myself for anything. i will be asking a lot of questions, and I want some damn good answers.

    Poochie-Love

This Picture is of my brother Sean's dog (he gave her away). Her name was Sapphire, but I told my bro that name was without pizzaz. I redubbed her Poochie-Love. Yeah, the name was sooo ghetto, but it had some oomph. Poochie was a hyper little pup (she grew within a matter of weeks). She wouldn't keep still and my cat hated her.

She loved to play and when I walked her she tried to wrap me with the chain. We never made it out of the driveway. LOL I took this picture. She has a pretty coat.

    Love Songs

I burned a cd, which was filled with love songs. It was the first active test of my dvd burner. My fist cd was of some of my favorite love songs. What I didn't know was that I didn't put enough songs on the cd. The CD didn't have a good "flow" either. I found this out after more exprermentation with burning. So I redid the CD with more songs, and adjusted the order. This is the song list:

    *Hold Me: Sheila E
    *Dreamin: Vanessa Williams
    *Baby Don't Cry: Lalah Hathaway
    *We Belong Together: Mariah Carey
*Sign Your Name: Terrance Trent D'arby
    *Stranger In My House: Tamia
    *It's Alright Now: Rahsaan Patterson
    *Whip Appeal: Babyface
    *Come Over: Faith Evans
*A Good Man: A Few Good Men
    *Say Yes: Floetry
    *Do Me Baby: Prince
    *Anytime: Brian McKnight
    *Last Night: Az Yet
*There's No Me Without You: Toni Braxton
    *Where Will You Go: Babyface

I like this order. I'm ready for more CD's.

    Pleases Pass the Emancipation

    Hello all,

Yesterday was one of those days when I tried not to roll my eyes at some really shady shit at the job. Some boxes were left in the mail room. Please bear in mind these boxes do NOT have my name on them anywhere. When I walked into work, I had not been there more than 20 mins when someone pops up from themain plantation house and tells me that I need to take care of these boxes. Keep in mind there is a mandate that I stay at the main desk for 4 hours. All the while there is a day staff that walked passed the box for two days. This has happened twice. You can be damn sure I am bringing this up in our meeting tomorrow.

When did I become a slave to a box that anyone can handle, and quicker? Foolishness. I'm insulted. You know I hate it when people think kindness means weakness. Why do people want me to be aggressive when I like being even tempered? Gotta flip that script. Nobody told "massa" I's a free negro. I's got a mind, and free will. I's gots myself an ed-you-kay-shun.

    Some people, sheesh.
